The prior to initiation section will give you an introduction to some of the history and symbolism of Freemasonry, a brief explanation of what happens at a meeting of Freemasons and the expected behaviour and responsibilities of a Freemason.

Entered Apprentice This section will provide you some reflections on the entered apprentice ceremony, symbolism of the entered apprentice Working Tools, Ashlars and the Lodge Room. Also there as a few thoughts on the EA Degree from Masonic authors as well as a Live MAP 1 recording.

Fellowcraft In the Fellowcraft section there is an interesting perspective on what Freemasonry offers the younger Mason, a look at the influence of Geometry, and some perspectives on the Fellowcraft Degree including a Live MAP 2 recording. And, some of the “evidence” that suggests other possibilities for the origins of Freemasonry.

This section begins with a presentation by Dr Ric Berman on the formation and early years of the Grand Lodge of England, followed by a Live MAP3 presentation, a couple of texts and a video looking at aspects of the third degree in Freemasonry. Throughout this on-line package there has been a history theme looking at some of the possible origins and influences on the development of modern-day Freemasonry as well as the history of Freemasonry in Australia and Victoria. So, in this section we at the possible Scottish influence on the development of Freemasonry, and this includes a short movie on Freemasonry – The Scottish Key. Also, we finish-off the history of Freemasonry in Victoria, which includes a piece on the Early Lodge Buildings of Rural/Country Victoria.

Certificate of Masonic Studies The Certificate of Masonic Studies is conducted by the Victorian Lodge of Research as an extension to the Masonic Advancement Programme and is open to all Victorian Freemasons who have completed the third degree in Freemasonry. AIMS OF THE COURSE •To provide a solid grounding and understanding of the basic history of our Freemasonry •To facilitate the opportunity for participants to arrive at an informed opinion based on source materials, regarding the origins and development of Freemasonry •To assist in establishing a greater understanding of the Philosophy, Tenets and Principles of Freemasonry
